After performing a software recovery on my PC, the following error message is displayed when Windows starts: "Runtime error 53, file not found". I can click
OK and the message disappears. However, the next time I boot my PC the message returns. How can I get rid of this error message?
To solve this issue, you should delete the HDReg entry from the Scheduled Tasks list. To do so:
- Click the Start button.
- Click Control Panel.
- When in category view, click the Performance and Maintenance category.
- Click the Control Panel icon Scheduled Tasks.
- Select the item HDREG.
- Click Delete this item and confirm the operation.
