Setting up the printer
The location
  1. Remove all packing material and pieces of tapes.
  2. Select a good location for your printer: close to a power outlet and on a flat and stable surface. Ensure that enough space is provided in front of the printer so you can install the paper output tray.
  3. Install the paper rest, which supports the media loaded in the auto sheet feeder. Insert the paper rest into the slots on the back of the auto sheet feeder.
  4. Install the paper output tray, which holds the printed sheets when they are fed out of the printer. Align the edges of the paper output tray with the grooves on the bottom of the printer and insert the paper output tray. Fold this tray down before you start printing. It can be folded up while the printer is not in use.
  5. Connect the power cord to the back of the printer and connect the other end to a power outlet. The printer switches on automatically after you connect the power cord. There is no power button on the printer. Leaving the printer plugged in does not affect its performance.

  6. Attention: Do not connect the printer cable yet!
The cartridge
  1. Unpack the BJC-21e colour ink cartridge. Remove the orange protective cap and protective tape:

The printer test

  2. Insert the paper into the auto sheet feeder and slide the paper guide against the side of the sheet. The paper guide should be snug and not too tight.
  3. Double-click the Resume button on top of the printer to print a nozzle check pattern; this should be the result:
